What’s with ‘dyads’?

With the growth of the internet and the number of domain names registered, choosing a domain name today is quite a task.

We wanted our domain name to be relatively short but unique. Almost all the short domain names have been taken. Even the domain name ‘www.dyad.com’ has been registered. If you select that domain you will go to a digital studio site in Europe.

The word ‘dyad’ does say something about our mission in life and it would probably help if we defined it for you. There are several technical definitions and one we have borrowed from our friends in Europe.

Webster’s Revised Unabridged Dictionary 1913 defines ‘dyad’ as:

  • An element, atom or radical having a valence or combining power of two.
  • A common current definition is (it’s not even in many current dictionaries):
    Two units considered as a pair.

The European definition, which we liked so much we borrowed is:

  • The union of two reciprocally completing principles.
In plain English, our mission is to establish business relationships with our clients that are mutually beneficial to one another...one could call such a relationship a ‘dyad’.
